Cryptoline biological control agent contains Cryptolaemus montrouzieri adults with a feeding strip. Cryptoleamus adults and larvae are predators of mealybugs (Pseudococcus sp.).

Predator of many types of mealybugs.
Aggressively attacks mealybug eggs and crawlers.

  • Adult female beetles lay up to ten eggs per day and up to 500 eggs in total. The large white cottony larvae of Cryptolaemus should not be confused with its host, which also has hairs and a creamy white color.
  • Adult beetles and young larvae feed on mealybug eggs and young crawlers and instars.
  • Large Cryptolaemus larvae can also consume adult mealybugs.
  • The life cycle of the Cryptolaemus montrouzieri takes from 4 to 7 weeks depending on temperature.
  • Cryptoleamus larvae are also known as ‘a wolf in sheep’s clothing since the larva look like mealy bug larva and adults.
  • Works best in crops with longer growing cycles.

Instructions for use

  • Open the vial near the mealy bug colonies.
  • Release adults directly onto terminal leaves within the colonies and spread the insects around the area to be treated.
  • Cryptoleamus establishment can be improved by preventing dispersal of insects off the plants.

Storage and transport

  • Transport and store in darkness at 6 -10°C.
  • Keep out of direct sunlight.
  • Store in a horizontal position.
  • Use within 18 hours of receipt.

Live Beneficial Insect Notification

Pick up option

These beneficial insects are dormant and need to stay refrigerated. From pick up you have a 30 minute window to re-refrigerate (Do not Freeze).

If you cannot re-refrigerate your beneficial insects must be applied as soon as possible, they will not stay dormant.

 

Calgary Local Delivery Option

These will not be delivered refrigerated and must be applied the day they are delivered.

Due to the perishable nature of this product we are unable to deliver live beneficial insects outside of Calgary City Limits.

Ordering and Pickup

The ordering and pickup of Live Predator Bugs is extremely time sensitive due to their highly perishable nature.
The deadline for ordering is Tuesday at midnight.
Your bugs will arrive the following Tuesday. You will get a phone call.

Once the order is placed unfortunately it cannot be undone. Please ensure you can receive these bugs. They ship immediately from California thus cancelling the order is impossible.  

You must pick them up and apply them in accordance with their instructions within 24 hours of their arrival date. No exceptions.
There will be no refunds, cancellations or returns for Live Predator Bugs that have perished due to you not picking them up.
As of right now there is no delivery option for these products.

Please be advised that due to the live nature of these products they are not warrantied.
All steps listed must be followed to ensure these living organisms will work to their full capability.
Golden Acre will ensure these items arrive to you in perfect condition and ready to be applied.

How to use

Mix Ratio: For all houseplants apply 1 teaspoon (4grams) /per 4 Litres (1/4 teaspoon (1gram)/per litre) of water once every week.

It is highly recommended to start your houseplants on a fertilizer regime, but only while they are actively growing.

 Houseplants tend to have a period of dormancy (normally winter, however poinsettias, Xmas cacti etc. are exceptions to this rule) and whilst dormant they should not be fertilized.

Caution: Do not exceed the recommended amount. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
