Water is arguably the most precious resource on the planet. Without water and six inches of topsoil there would be zero life on this planet, and if there was, we would not recognize it. In every facet of our lives we use water, from hygiene and medicine to aesthetic and entertainment, water is integral. This is why it is imperative to use this resource wisely. Not only as custodians of the planet but also to save money.
Any Calgarian gardener, or resident for that matter, can tell you that Calgary is dry. Very dry. Water, and it’s conservation, is a major consideration when gardening successfully here. We know this, as residents and gardeners ourselves, we are all too aware of the challenges faced growing in a hot, dry summer.
This is one of the reasons we are happy to offer a selection of waterwise hardware and plants, including native plants and lawn alternatives to help your garden be the very best it can be. We have and soaker hoses, rain barrels, plant supports, soil amendments, mulches and so much more to help you conserve and utilize water to it’s fullest.
We know our water will be an ongoing issue, and hopefully no more water main bursts, but we can ensure we do our best to conserve this most precious natural resource. Being more aware of how we use water, and being more conscious of why we use water will help us. Utilizing the correct hardware, including drought tolerant plants, and with a bit of know how we can have beautiful gardens and bountiful harvests season after season.
