Designated in 1930, Alberta's floral emblem is the prickly rose (Rosa acicularis), also known as the wild or Arctic rose. This hardy shrub, characterized by its thorns and sprawling growth, reaches up to 2 meters in height and width. From May to August, it displays vibrant pink, five-petaled flowers. Later in the season, it yields bright red hips, rich in vitamin C and perfect for jams and teas.
