Thriving in wet environments like meadows, ditches, and shorelines, this multi-stemmed shrub is a natural solution for erosion control. Its slender stems, rarely exceeding an inch in diameter and reaching 1-3 meters in height, are known for their vibrant young coloration, ranging from yellowish-green to red. Notably, Basket Willow, named for its historical use in wickerwork, is considered the premier native willow for basket making. Unlike some willows, it propagates solely by seed.
